Hi,
My I140 is approved and I485 is pending. I am working Full Time as a Software Devloper on EAD with a Consulting Company. I have been offered a part time work of same nature by my friend. He has a company and he offers to pay me on 1099.
Would it be ok to work part time(15 Hrs. per week) and accept payment on 1099.
Please advise.
Thanks,
Nid
In EAD, you can have as many jobs as you can (using 1099 etc).

For the second time, a federal judge has declared a Farmers Branch ordinance banning illegal immigrants from renting in the city to be unconstitutional. Here are excerpts from a Dallas Morning News (http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/news/localnews/stories/DN-FBsuit_25met.ART.Central.Edition1.4c77c2c.html) article reporting this decision:
U.S. District Judge Jane Boyle of Dallas ruled Wednesday that the ordinance was an attempt to enforce U.S. immigration laws – something the judge said only the federal government can do.
The judge also issued a permanent injunction to stop Farmers Branch from enforcing Ordinance 2952.
Mayor Tim O'Hare, the driving force behind the ordinances, said he wants to appeal.
"The American people are tired of judges legislating from the bench," he said. "This decision is not unexpected but welcomed, because it allows us to get closer to this ordinance becoming reality."
But O'Hare said the City Council would have to vote on whether to continue a fight that has cost the city nearly $3.2 million since September 2006. And the city may need to spend an additional $623,000 in legal fees in the year ahead, city finance director Charles Cox said Wednesday.
About one-quarter of the estimated 30,000 people who live in Farmers Branch were born outside the United States. About 47 percent of the city's population is Hispanic.
In the past four years, the city has proposed a series of ordinances that would make it illegal for landlords to rent to illegal immigrants. A version approved by the council in 2006 was repealed in early 2007 to make way for another ordinance.
That ordinance, No. 2903, was approved by two-thirds of voters in 2007 but later declared unconstitutional by U.S. District Judge Sam Lindsay. The city abandoned an appeal of that ordinance in favor of Ordinance 2952. No. 2952 added all rental units, including houses, to the ban on renting to illegal immigrants.

Friends
The past few days has witessed a lot of interest from Michigan residents in joining our chapter. However we could approve only a few heads because of the fact that some were inaccesible over phone.
We would also like to remind all members who are willing to join MI chapter to send in their phone number,IV id and your location. This would help us reach you quickly.

You can still get a 1 year extension claiming that your PERM application is still pending. It all depends on the officer that the decision has not been made on PERM application.

I'd be interested, are you planning to do local or DC offices?
I have met with staffers from offices of both MD senators a few times (in their DC offices) and I have been to the DC office of my local Congress woman.
Let me know when you are planning to go.

Hello,
I am stuck in India (along with my husband who) after leaving USA where I am living for over 5 years. I just came for 2 wks here in India to get stamping done at the Chennai Consulate. They kept my passport and said they will give visa, in next 3-4wks..Its past a month and 3 wks.. I am force to live with relatives. I can't even go to my home country without my passport. Everything I own is back in USA. How do I get back to it? I am on H4 and my husband is H1B. I am holding another country's nationality. I can't even visit my home country without my passport. Why did the Consulate kept the passports for this long? :confused:Why are we being treated this way?? Why didn't they do a security check where I was living for over 5 years? I am so frustrated being stuck and worry about my home left unattended back in the US.
Any advise? Can I contact someone to help expedite this process?

Some online news said about the proposed EB-6 visa (start-up visa bill) is to get $250,000 funding from US investor into your business and create 5 jobs or 1 Million dollars in profits within 2 years, then the entreprenur will be granted the US green card.
No profits will be guaranteed in any kind of business. Personally I do think this EB-6 visa is very very difficult to work because it is NOT easy to find someone to invest those big sum of money into your business during this great economic recession. So I am thinking about why dont give out green cards to international students who have advanced degree in Science & Medicine regardless of whether those students have a US job offer or not. It is because immigration of those international students lead to the inflow of knowledge and money to US and it will indirectly increase the US reputation and uplift the US economy. I do believe the inflow of knowledge and money are keys for immigration which are welcomed by all other countries in this world. Since those international students are trained by US and they are familiar with the US surroundings, therefore, I do think the inflow of money for immigration should be brought back to US. Also, if US absorb those inflow of knowlegable groups for immigration, US will become more and more famous in the world leadership of Science and Innovations. All rich and knowlegeable groups will be concentrated in US for world leadership. Moreover, those international students will buy houses, cars, computers and set up their own business for daily living and these will indirectly uplift the retail buying power and consequently uplift the US economy. In addition, more relatives or friends from those international students will be indirectly invited as visitors to US and these will increase the profits of the retail business, hotel reservations, restaurant business and airline tickets reservation. Also, those students established the companies to US will hire 1-5 persons and these will create job opportunities in US. All those inflow of money will bring tremendous monetary income to US economy.
For those poor people who want to immigrate to US, we can give him a chance either to start up a business on their own to hire 1-5 persons or to invest a small to medium sum of money to those advanced degree graduates business. Finally more jobs created, more people visit US for tourism and more money inflow for better US economy!!

My wife and I are scheduled to go for fingerprinting this month. We have a year old son and obviously we are planning to take him with us as well. Do I need to take any form of ID / birth certificate of my son (obviously he is not to be fingerprinted) but not sure what the rules are with respect to carrying infants for the interview. Anyone who has fingerprinted in a similar situation?

I thought u r H1 status since 1st october. Have u started working for the new H1 employer (leaving ur L1 behind).
I'm saying u can move from one H1 comp to another within 30 days without paystubs. If u r not even on H1, then this case doesn't arise. At L1, u can't transfer.

I know for a fact that you cannot count current employer exp for GC.
You can use experience with the same employer, but not in the same position as you note next.
If i start working for the same employer on 15-1031.00 Computer Software Engineers, Applications , is it more than 50% different in role so i can count my 3 years experience when applying my GC ??
Nobody could tell just by looking at the DOT job descriptions. Your actual job and duties are what is important, not any DOL codes or descriptions. if your duties in the 2 jobs are 50% different, you should be able to use the experience.

( i dont know exactly but something i listened this )on h1 we should do the job continuously with out any gap. if one is not working on h1 for more than 180 days staying here is not legal or that may be out of staus.
like that who is on valid AOS(not primary applicant) dont want to do job means is there legality issues or out of status issues . is there any particular time limit for not doing job with AOS/EAD( not primary person). If i am wrong anything please correct me.

My brother is finishing his BDS in India this year. I am planning to bring him to US for the studies in USA. Could you please help me on what he needs to do to enter here and are there any hurdles. I am new to USA too so don't know much about the ways so trying to find out. All I heard is unlike engineering its difficult to come for medical studies to USA.
Thank you for your help and support.
